Refering to the tragedy of September 11th, 2001, Amy taped a public service announcement for the Red Cross for the national US television.

In the summer of 2001 some of the top artists of the Country and Christian music industries made a recording and video of "America the Beautiful". Amy sang the first vocals. The recording was made in conjunction with Norman Lear's Declaration of Independence tour and was featured in many sporting venues across the country, on various network stations and in rotation on CMT. The project had taken on new significance since September 11th and was released as a single on country and pop radio.
